Overview

Queer Chocolatier serves as a local marketplace for
chocolate and artwork lovers alike, with a deliciously
radical mission: it strives to provide high-quality handmade chocolate confections while also standing in solidarity with queer and trans folx. Studio 165+ was approached by Queer Chocolatier seeking a Valentine’s Day campaign to remind their current and prospecting customers that they are
“still here and queer” during times of hardship.

The Solution

Queer Chocolatier is a new sweet shop featuring
ethically sourced chocolates as well as handmade baked goods. This aspect was highlighted by integrating the same quality ingredients used by Queer Chocolatier into the final design. The final deliverables include a promotional poster
and two social media posts. The typography was fabricated
as a stencil in order to handcraft the letters with baking ingredients, calling back to the homemade products
offered by Queer Chocolatier.

PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD.

At Queer Chocolatier, every cocoa concoction is made from scratch, with love. But how do you convey
that delicate craftsmanship, especially at the height of COVID? As a team, we knew it was essential
to showcase the artistry and heart behind the truffle-making process, even while social distancing.

So, we got creative. Using the very ingredients that go into the truffles, my team and I quite
literally played with our food. We crafted a custom typeface stencil and got our hands messy
with powdered sugar, coffee beans, sea salt, and, of course, chocolate. The result? A deliciously
immersive way to celebrate Queer Chocolatier’s handcrafted confections.

SEASON’S EATINGS.

To say the poster campaign was a success would be an understatement. Morgan, the Queer Chocolatier
herself, loved the concept so much that she greenlit an entire collection of QC-branded greeting cards—
bringing a personal touch to those craving connection during COVID.

Using the same creative process as our poster design, my team and I gathered even more ingredients to
craft celebrations for every occasion—from holidays and well wishes to anniversaries and simple hellos.
After all, what better way to express a love language than with chocolate?

MEET YOUR MAKER.

With the unveiling of some sweet new print collateral, what better time to formally introduce
the chef behind the chocolate? For those who hadn’t had the chance to meet her in person prior to
COVID lockdown, we curated a bio sheet to reintroduce Muncie to the coolest chocolatier in town—
complete with flavor profiles and descriptors from her own delicious inventory.
